Founder Story

These women read about a young girl unable to afford a desperately needed liver transplant and decided to raise funds for the transplant and related expenses. Their tireless dedication contributed to the young girl’s transplant.
Renamed Organ Transplant Fund

In 1998, the name of the organization was changed to National Foundation for Transplants to better convey its national reach and include patients needing tissue, bone marrow and other transplants.
Home Away from Home
In 2004, Roche and NFT partnered to begin Home Away from Home program, a program designed to provide complimentary lodging for NFT transplant patients and their families who have to stay away from home for follow-up transplant care.
Living Donor Funding Begins
In 2015, NFT began offering fundraising assistance and services to Living Donors.

What began as a local group’s desire to help a member of their community, has grown into a nationally recognized enterprise that has generated $82 million in fundraising and support for more than 4,000 transplant patients every year.
