Know the facts
Thousands of patients who are waiting for organs face serious challenges beyond the cost of the surgery, including:
- Anti-rejection medication
- Travel expenses for patients and their caregivers
- Living Donors expenses
- Procedures needed to maintain the health of the transplant
If you are a patient or a family member, we’re here to help raise the funds you need to cover your out-of-pocket transplant-related expenses.

Costs, wait times and survival rates
Transplant costs, wait times, survival rates, medication costs and sources of organs are all important factors that inform and drive our work. Your donations enable us to help patients at all stages of their transplant journey.
Transplant costs in the U.S.
Before transplant patients can be placed on the waiting list for an organ match, they must show proof of funding for 20%* of the cost of their organ transplant surgery.
With your help, we can ensure that more patients get the help they need.
*This is an estimate of potential costs if insurance requires a patient to pay the full 20%. Some patients may be required to pay less.

While patients wait to be matched with an organ, bills from medical expenses such as hospitalization, travel to/from transplant centers, dialysis and medications can all add up quickly. Transplant patients may also be required to provide financial proof that they can maintain the organ they receive post-transplant.
Patients can be denied an organ they are matched with if they can’t afford the financial maintenance of the organ after surgery. Anti-rejection medications can run thousands of dollars per month.
Be a Living Donor
As a Living Donor you will immediately increase the existing organ supply and enable more patients to receive transplants.
For all of our success, there are more patients every year who need our help. Help us fulfill our mission.
