Bingo fundraiser in honor of Ricky Linville

Volunteers collecting donations Ricky Linville, 51, was diagnosed with a life-threatening liver disease in 2003. Doctors have told him a liver transplant is essential to his survival.

The average liver transplant costs approximately $500,000. Even with health coverage, Linville faces long-term medical expenses related to the transplant. He will require a lifetime of follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications to remain healthy. These medications could cost as much as $5,000 a month, and they are as critical to his survival as the transplant itself. Linville owned a flooring company for many years, but his declining health has forced him to stop working, adding to his financial strain. To help alleviate some of the financial burden, Linville turned to the National Foundation for Transplants (NFT) for assistance. NFT is a nonprofit organization that helps patients raise funds for transplant-related expenses. Volunteers are collecting donations to use as prizes for a bingo fundraiser. They hope to collect items such as household products, car care products, small appliances, gift cards and cash. Donations can be dropped off through Saturday, Dec. 5 at Surry Drug Company, 105 Business Park Drive in Dobson.
